Meet Ogonna
Good design creates an equitable world.
In everything I do, I strive to craft a more humane society, the type I want to live in. I draw on my 11-year background in experience design and economics to design digital experiences that feel human.
Origin Story
Shortly after I turned 19, I migrated from Nigeria to Canada to study Economics. I was determined to learn how to solve the problems of poverty, income inequality and unemployment.
While studying, I served as a Teaching Assistant (TA), Lead TA, and Intern at the Consulate of France. Through several economics courses and conferences, my understanding of how economists solve problems broadened — for people, not with people - an approach that was ineffective in developing countries.
A final-year Entrepreneurship course introduced me to design thinking, which lit a fire in me. I had found the tool I needed to solve problems collaboratively.
Shortly after graduating, I completed my UX Design Diploma and worked at KPMG and on the product teams of four startups. To upskill, I've taken courses in Product Management, Information Architecture, Design Systems, and Graphic Design. I've completed design projects organized by Google, NASA, and Adobe. And I'm just getting started.
Approach to Work
-
Humility - I believe that all I have, I have received. I’m a steward of my gifts and not an owner.
-
Kindness - I want to help others succeed.
-
Collaboration - The best ideas can come from anywhere.
-
Growth mindset - All challenges are an opportunity to grow.
-
Speed as a habit - If you decide quickly, and it turns out wrong, you can fix it quickly.
-
Courage - We all have a voice that tells us we're not good enough. I call it's bluff.
-
Meeting effectiveness - Allowing people to brainstorm, critique, and vote on ideas asynchronously well before the meeting is a great idea.
-
Prototype everything - Visual aids are worth more than a thousand words.
